The Artificial Intelligence (AI) revolution is heading to the publishing industry, and promises to level the playing field between small and large publishers.
Machine learning will free those in the industry from the basic, repetitive tasks and enable them to spend more time on creative work, it is claimed.
Speaking at the Independent Publishers Guild’s (IPG) 2019 Spring Conference, keynote speaker Venetia Taylor, Google’s head of creative strategy, said that “Machine learning provides an unparalleled opportunity to excite and liberate creative people.”
She added that the integration of AI will help smaller publishers compete with their larger competitors.
Though there is a concern that the rise of AI might lead to job losses, Taylor noted that the publishing industry was less vulnerable than some other sectors, because “most creative jobs cannot be automated.”
