Palamedes PR, which specialises in B2B and B2C PR, has secured regional coverage for the City of Newport Business Club, it emerged this morning.
The agency revealed how Welsh rugby legend Adam Jones will give a talk at the Club about his “incredible journey” with the British & Irish Lions – and a personal account of helping Wales to pummel England in the Six Nations Championship.
The Ospreys prop will also discuss his prolific career at the top of international rugby and his hopes of achieving 100 test caps for his country before retirement.
Jones, 32, agreed to tomorrow’s rare appearance on account of the Club’s “exceptional work” in the wider Newport community.
His appearance was featured in the South Wales Argus last week.
Speaking from his home in Merthyr Tydfil, the father-of-one said: “I am very much looking forward to the event at the City of Newport Business Club.
“The Club has and continues to do lots of exceptional work for the business community, and I look forward to sharing my incredible journey with Wales and with the British & Irish Lions with its members.”
The ticketed event, which is open to the public, takes place on September 26 and is the first in the Club’s 2013/14 season.
It will be held at the Holiday Inn in Newport at 5.30pm.
The club’s new chairman, Janine Dance said: “I am delighted that we have managed to secure rugby legend Adam Jones as our first speaker for the 2013/14 season.
“Adam played a huge part in the success of both the Six Nations 2013 tournament and the recent British & Irish Lions tour and we look forward to hearing about both tournaments along with stories from Adam’s expansive career”.
Other events in the Club’s 2013/14 season include a lunch on October 15 when Rob Frowen from Newport City Council Ecnomic Regeneration will give a talk on economic regeneration.
The final event of the 2013/14 season will take place on November 14 with a guest appearance from paraplegic athlete John Harris, the five-times medal winner who is planning on making the first wheelchair ascent of Mount Killiminjaro.
Tickets to see Adam Jones cost £35. More information about the City of Newport Business Club and its 2014 events schedule can be found at www.newportbusinessclub.co.uk
