Award-winning Singaporean author Ovidia Yu has been speaking on radio about the future of the special relationship between the UK and Singapore.
As a native of Singapore, Ovidia says she has seen a shift in the balance of influence within the country in recent years towards China and the USA. She discussed her concerns about this with BBC Radio Scotland’s John Beattie show.

Ovidia’s new historical crime novel, The Paper Bark Tree Mystery, explores the Anglo-Singaporean relationship from during the country’s days as a crown colony. It will be published in the UK on June 27 and will be the third in her series of critically-acclaimed Crown Colony whodunnits, following The Frangipani Tree Mystery and The Betel Nut Tree Mystery.
