BBC South and the Oxford Mail have covered Pacific Row’s training exercise on Farmoor Reservoir.
Yesterday’s drill saw local firefighters using two high-pressure pumps to “dowse and disorientate” team member Darren Taylor as he rowed.
It was designed to give Darren a “real-life” introduction to the realities of the open ocean in advance of the Pacific Row’s 2,100-mile voyage this summer.
Darren and British co-rower Alex Flynn hope to enter the record books by completing the gruelling journey between California and Honolulu.
Both Pacific Row 2014 and Palamedes PR would like to thank Thames Water for kindly allowing access. We would also like to thank Bubble Creative for kindly agreeing to photograph the event; its images can be found, and downloaded, at the foot of this post.
