Don’t Ask is the fourth novel by author Paul Carroll and will be published in print and eBook formats on 28th April. 

Visiting the glam rock Seventies, Britpop, Operation Yewtree and #metoo within its alternating past and present chapter structure, in dramatic and unexpected fashion the novel underlines the truth in the expression ‘be careful what you wish for’. 

Don’t Ask is Carroll’s fourth novel following A Matter of Life and Death (Matador, 2012), Written Off (Matador, 2016), and Trouble Brewing (Matador, 2017). 

The inspiration for the novel’s storyline concerning the perils of home DNA testing kits comes from a real-life incident where Carroll’s late mother-in-law discovered to her shock through such a kit that she had been a ‘left-behind war baby’.
