Author Martin Cohen has appointed PR specialist Palamedes to spearhead a publicity campaign for his most recent publication.
The agency will work with Martin on the promotion of his epic ‘historical fantasia’, Bounty of a Stolen Empire – described as a seamless blend of meticulous research, witticism and pure fiction based on the tempestuous life of Regency figure Marguerite Gardiner, Countess of Blessington.
Martin says, “The Countess was not simply a brilliant intellectual two-centuries ahead of her time, a mind-blowing beauty and sexual enigma, but ‘a bloody difficult woman’, who today would make a most effective prime minister.
“Instead, surmounting the insurmountable class and gender prejudices of her time, she became a confidante and mentor to prime ministers, including Peel, Russell, Wellington and Disraeli as well as Louis-Napoleon, the first elected premier of France.
“Born Margaret Power in the chaos of an Irish backwater, unprecedented misadventure forced the future countess to exploit her multifarious talents – among them cynicism, sarcasm, feminine wiles and resourceful business acumen – to become the highest-paid writer in the land, much admired by her close friends, Byron, Dickens, Marryat, Bulwer-Lytton, Walter Savage Landor and numerous other leading literary and artistic figures who feature in her story.”
Anthony Harvison, Palamedes PR campaigns director, adds: “Martin’s novel is both entertaining and fascinating, bringing one of history’s most colourful figures back into the spotlight.
“We are delighted to be working with him and look forward to bringing Bounty of a Stolen Empire the publicity it deserves.”
