Publisher Constable & Robinson will be releasing the hotly-anticipated new novel by award-winning Singaporean author Ovidia Yu later this month.
Ovidia’s latest historical crime novel, The Paper Bark Tree Mystery, will be published in the UK on June 27. It will be the third in her series of critically-acclaimed Crown Colony whodunnits, following The Frangipani Tree Mystery and The Betel Nut Tree Mystery.
Set during Singapore’s colonial era, Chinese sleuth SuLin has now found her dream job: assistant at Singapore’s brand new detective agency. That is, until Bald Bernie decides a ‘local girl’ can’t be trusted with private investigations, and replaces her with a new secretary – pretty, privileged, and white. Bernie is soon found dead in the filing room and SuLin jumps into the investigation when her best friend’s father is accused, in a bid to clear his name.
