There has been high praise for the debut novel by film director and prison reform campaigner Ben Pickering.
Popular topical news and culture website The London Economic has described Freiheit, which was released this week through Jericho Lane Publishing, as a “taut and suspenseful beach read” and a “sweeping novel that covers different continents and timelines”.
Pickering, a client of book PR agency Palamedes PR, made his name as a film director but decided to branch out into novels while serving a prison sentence for mortgage fraud.
The book, which won the 2017 Koestler Platinum Award for longer fiction, is a gripping work of alternative history that imagines what might have happened if Hitler had never become Führer. You can read the review, which is accompanied by a Q&A interview with Pickering, here.
