Historian and author Linda Parker has been interviewed by a wide range of UK radio stations concerning her research into World War One hero “Woodbine Willie”.
Dr Parker, a client of author PR agency Palamedes, has spoken with stations including BBC Radio Merseyside, BBC Jersey, Amber Sound and Metro Radio about how army chaplain Reverend Geoffrey Studdert Kennedy was so generous that he passed out close to one million cigarettes to sick or wounded troops.
In total, he was likely to have spent in excess of £43,000 in today’s money on cigarettes for the troops during the Great War.
Dr Parker, who has just published a biography of Studdert Kennedy, A Seeker After Truths, also spoke about the lasting influence of clergyman as a leading theological and social thinker of the early 20th century.
