Review copies of new military memoir Seven Point Six Two: The True Story Of Soldiers For Hire In Iraq, are currently available to members of the press.
The book, which will be published by Steel City Press on September 30th, 2019, has been penned by former British Army soldier and private military contractor (PMC) Gary Roberts.
Drawing heavily upon his experiences working as a PMC in Iraq, Roberts sheds light on the mysterious work of PMCs operating in the most dangerous countries in the world. The title contains a wealth of real, never-before-seen personal photographs of conflict and its aftermath that provide a rare insight into clandestine war.
It is also believed to be the first book to discuss a murder investigation from any modern war. The author was one of more than 1,000 British soldiers investigated by the Iraq Historic Allegations Team (IHAT). IHAT was subsequently shut down in 2017 after a public outcry. No prosecutions were ever secured and the investigation, which was pilloried in the press with claims of corrupt lawyers and incompetent investigators, cost the taxpayer £34million.
