RIP Gurpareet Bains – Indian superfoods pioneer, bestselling author and friend

We are devastated to hear that Gurpareet Bains, a long-standing client and friend, has passed away

The Palamedes team was distraught at this week’s devastating news of Gurpareet Bain’s tragic passing. Gurpareet was among the agency’s first clients and has been represented by Jon Kirk since 2009.

He was a good friend to us all, and working with him over the years was a fun-filled delight. The last campaign we worked on with Gurpareet was the world’s healthiest cookie, which contains all of our recommended five-a-day.

Gurpareet was the pioneer of Indian superfoods and came to international prominence in 2009 when he created the world’s healthiest meal. He remained in the headlines and on TV ever since thanks to his visionary dishes, which combined antioxidising spices with vegetables and other low-fat ingredients to help alleviate many common ailments.

His debut recipe book, Indian Superfood, was a number one bestseller while his second and third books, Indian Superspices and The Superfood Diet, received international acclaim.

His books won the hearts of numerous celebrities, while he was a regular guest on BBC Radio 2. His fans included Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester; Dame Vivienne Westwood; Chris Evans, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Xanthe Clay, Meera Syal, and Ching-He Huang, amongst many more. The media, meanwhile, described him as a “superfood guru” (Sunday Times) and supported his career at every step.

Our hearts and deepest sympathies are with his family at this time.

We’ll have that Christmas knees-up on the other side, Gurpareet. Rest in peace.
