Palamedes PR was appointed by Matthew James Publishing in June 2017 to promote non-fiction short-story collection ‘Might Make You Smile’ by Brenda Burling. We were tasked with securing national, regional and lifestyle exposure for the author and title.
Might Make You Smile is unique in collecting light-hearted anecdotes from people living with cancer. The publisher and author’s aim with the book is to help anyone affected by cancer feel connected with others going through similar experiences, and to show that the disease is not the end of the world. When engaging with the media, the Consultancy was mindful to explain the purpose of the book so to avoid any misunderstandings concerning this sensitive subject. We drew upon the real-life stories themselves to develop a national feature, as well as offer extracts. We also utilised the author’s own insights to prepare a thought-leader article, as well as interview opportunities.
This book PR campaign secured exposure in the Daily Mirror, Bella, Female First, BBC Radio Essex and BBC Three Counties Radio, among others. Each of the editorial products we created achieved 100% coverage with a combined reach of over 100million.
