Palamedes PR Appointed By Author And BSA Co-Founder Ed Accura

Palamedes PR is appointed by Ed Accura, author of A Visual Journey of Blacks Can’t Swim

Book PR agency Palamedes PR has been appointed by Ed Accura, co-founder of the Black Swimming Association (BSA) to promote his forthcoming book about the creation of the pioneering organisation.

A Visual Journey of Blacks Can’t Swim is set to be published next month through Dreaming Big Together Publishing.

The book chronicles Mr Accura’s incredible journey from first learning to swim in 2018, to making a series of acclaimed myth-busing documentaries (the ‘Blacks Can’t Swim’ series)  on why the vast majority of Brits of African, Caribbean, and Asian heritage can not, or do not, swim, and which led to the foundation of the BSA in 2020.

According to the BSA, 95 percent of Black adults and 80 per cent of Black children in England do not swim, while in the Asian community 93 percent of adults and 78 percent of children do not swim.

A Visual Journey of Blacks Can’t Swim by Ed Accura is set to be published in February 2023 through Dreaming Big Together Publishing.

The reasons for this are complex but are said to include factors such as finance, accessibility, and cultural influences.

The remit of non-profit organisation the BSA, which also includes Team GB Olympic swimmer Alice Dearing among the co-founders, is to “diversify the world of aquatics through education, advocacy, support and research”.

Through the BMA, as well as his In The Deep End podcast and documentaries, Mr Accura is a tireless advocator for getting more people of Black and Asian heritage swimming and, by so doing, seeking to reduce the number of deaths by drowning.

During this campaign we shall be raising awareness of A Visual Journey of Blacks Can’t Swim as well as the BSA and the promotion of swimming within BAME communities.

For all media requests, including interviews with Mr Accura, or review copies of A Visual Journey of Blacks Can’t Swim , contact publicist Anthony Harvison.
